Fading From Bright
04:14
|
|||
Call any name you want to call, any time you want to call, it won’t matter anyway.
My mind has been slowing down on me, so we take another turn when the gun fires the start.
Fall into better lives than this, I’ve been coming back around, I’ve been wondering what I missed.
And I have been wondering to myself, I’ve been wondering for years: was I young or always old?
Ten years I’ve been fading from bright, I’ve been walking in a daze. Never wanted it enough in my life, never looking for other ways. Out there on the other side I’m sure we’ll work it. Yeah on the other side where a whisper’s like a shout

Hide In The Noise
04:00
|
|||
Never saw it coming round. I was reelin, I was feelin like the world had run aground. And I can’t tell you through the wires. They keep it all for the record with the honesty of liars
Well I never, well I might. I was nudged off the course like an endless Pioneer flight. And I can’t tell you through the wires, through the air, through the waves it’s all inside the hive
Hide in all the noise
I don’t mind. Take a measure or we’re heading off the side. Feeling ‘round for a feather on a banged up one way flight. And I don’t mind
Hide in all the noise
If they can find us there then they can find us anywhere. On the corner where you told us to meet. We were standing all alone on the street. Every noise, every sound

The Daylight Lies
03:30
|
|||
I’ll go tonight, but the sun is still high. I won’t listen, no. But I’ll look out for mine.
The pain delivers.
You pulled on my hand when we went to the shore, why I followed you in well I still just don’t know.
It was something to do with the light in you’re here, the twist of a smile, the risk of dare. You gathered me up said, “There’s time now at least.” Your eyes had the look of some terrible beast. I was helpless to move but I didn’t mind, and isn’t that freedom of some sort of kind?
The pain delivers.
On the ground by the shore I was wood and you were steal. What’s it like to be loved to the point of no appeal?
The daylight lies. There’s no truth where there’s nothing to conceal
And I’m wondering why. Why won’t you wait ‘til tomorrow? It’s a curse to be tied to unspeakable sorrow. So I lay wide awake for the sounds that you make when you’re tearing things apart. It’s not far from the beating of a heart. The daylight lies.

Diamond Days
03:31
|
|||
When we passed your house this morning I said, “Now don’t you look away.” When the truth’s too hard to swallow and you find that the broken threads are pulling at your mind.
Well the other day you should have, left the bottle on the shelf. When you’re swimming in your memories and it’s hard to keep a tight grip on yourself.
Well those diamond days will break you, with their brilliance and their bite. Yeah, those diamond days will break you, so you better hope there’s something left of life

Turn The Tables
04:55
|
|||
I didn’t run from the dark, found the shadows in my mind. Didn’t swim from the deep. Sowed the trouble that I reaped.
Call with the same old advice, your words are nothing more than noise. Look for the hardest to see, you look but you never rest on me.
You turn the tables so well, you’re terrible, you’re vital as hell. Nothing like the pull of your tide. You turn the tables so well.
Now I run from the dark, hide from the shadows in my mind. Won’t swim to the deep. If there’s nothing sewn there’s nothing there to reap.

It won’t sting for a while. Won’t sting ‘till we’ve spoken. On the tip of a tongue, words feel like they’re broken. Last call comes round, we’re out in the street lights. Every step that we take is like a knock ‘em down street fight.
As we sit on the bed, with the sheets in a jumble. And I reach for your head, my intention it stumbles. The fire’s long gone out now and the wind is whipping in. The wind has got some bite now. It remind me where I’ve been.
Stand up! Don’t you turn, there’s something to be said. Stand up! Don’t let it burn, let it spin around instead. Because this time is the last time, yes I know it’s true.

Every turn you take is right, oh your heartbeat has its rhythm. Every sound you make is bright, yes you sing with such precision. And I’m waiting on.
For each truth that you have found, there’s one lyin’ in the gutter. Every prince that you have crowned, well they all go on to stutter. And I’m waiting on.
Broken soles and broken seams, it’s the cost when you deliver. All your promises and dreams, well it’s enough to make you shiver. And I’m waiting on.

Might As Well Join In
05:51
|
|||
On a long and dusty road, where the wind is stronger than muscle, for a thousand years or more I’ve been turning on my heels. The time is going to come when everything will be settled. But I just tell myself, “You might as well join in.”
The world from up above is glorious picture. And the world from down below, it’s sweat and it’s steal. I just tell myself, “You might as well join in.”
I made to get away, to go to the sidelines. Made to get away, to go further afield. Yes the time is going to come when everything will be settled. I just tell myself, you might as well join in.
And the world from up above is a stereo picture. And the world from down below, it’s sweat and it’s steal. I just tell myself, you might as well join in.
We stood under still skies without a sound. You looked in my eyes and then you dropped yours to the ground. I found a photograph, it might have shown a smile. But both my hands were trembling, have been for a while. When we were young we sang of love. And now we are old we’re only thinking of how the blood runs slow.

In My Grave
03:12
|
|||
I walked alone down city streets on city night. The only sounds I heard were echoes in my mind. But on the church steps, well I knew we’d be alright. I will love you till they put me in my grave.
A gold dress ‘neat a sky that blue and grey. Down under El tracks how we cowered from the sound of passing trains to get a picture of our fate. I will love you till that put me in my grave.
I remember feeling kind of fearful. Feeling like I fell out of time. I just couldn’t see my way out of the past. Ah then all it took was listening to you laugh.
A boy was born and I was lying in your blood. A gentle cry and I was brought back to the time. And when the morning broke we both beheld the flood. I will love you till they put me in my grave.
Won’t be long now till we’re lying in the ground. We’ll be together and we will not make a sound. I’ll be so close to you with so much left to say. Ah but at that point babe it won’t matter anyway.
